An Orphan Needs A Home: Is It Yours?

November is Adoption Awareness Month, and Sunday, November 6th is Orphan Sunday.  There are over 18 million orphans in the world. The following video and comments give you some needed information about adoption:

Jamie Ashton, who recently adopted two children from China, shares her perspective about the issue of money and adoption:
About the money, all I can say is God! Adoption is one thing I can say with absolute certainty that He will provide. We have adopted twice now having little to nothing in savings and having no idea where the money would come from. We were determined to do whatever it took to rescue a child, and if we had to down size, go without, sell things, plead for help, work extra jobs, etc., we were on a mission for the Lord, and a stupid thing like money was not going to stop us!

One of the greatest miracles we witnessed both times is God's provision!   The money was just always there.  Sometimes it did not make sense how, but it was there.  I learned how to fully 100 percent depend on the Lord through this.  Almost every other adoptive family will tell you the same thing.

Also, know that adoption from foster care is usually free, and in international adoptions the fees come in small chunks over about nine months.  We always had just enough to pay what we needed at the time.  The largest expense is the travel.  The airline tickets, hotel, etc., but those are not due until the very end.  Some people will donate their airline miles. There are grant programs.  You would be amazed how friends and family will help if you just ask, and there are tons of fundraising ideas.

Please do not ever let money stop you.  It will take faith that is for sure, but when you set out to fulfill God's words, He will not forsake your effort. We have learned this in a huge way!
From the site No Greater Joy Mom:
We’re the Christians, doggone it!   We’re God’s beloved church.  His beautiful bride. We’re the ones He has already commanded to take care of the orphans.
Yet sadly, we wait.  We wait...for someone else to go. We wait, we wait, we wait.
And while we wait—they perish. The statistics are staggering.  I can’t even look anymore.
