This past Thursday LifeGuard of Durango, Colorado, organized a protest of Mercy Regional Medical Center. Dr. Richard Grossman, a Planned Parenthood abortionist in Durango also has full medical privileges at the hospital. Mercy is a Catholic hospital, but the Diocese of Pueblo said that they commissioned a canonical investigation into Grossman’s position at Mercy and found that the hospital was in “full compliance” with the U.S. Bishops’ medical directives, known as the ‘Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Services’ (ERDs).
Grossman, who is a Quaker, has stated, “The reason I perform abortions is because I’m a Christian. Personally, I believe in the strength, intellect and fortitude of women. When a woman says a fetus is a person, I think it is one. I believe the woman empowers the fetus.”
