What Would The Reaction Be If 4,000 Infants Were Killed Every Day?

Approximately 4,000 unborn babies are killed every day in the United States.  Why are most Christians doing nothing to stop it?  Why are the non-Christians doing little to stop it?  Why aren't many pro-lifers, such as myself, doing enough to stop it?

The answer is simple:  The unborn baby is not given the same value as a born baby.

I have heard many people say that fighting abortion is "not their thing" or they're "pro-choice" or many within the church feel that it's just not their "calling."  What if 4,000 one-year-old children were murdered daily and everyone in this country could do something to stop it?  Would they stand idly by and just state that it's not their thing or someone should have the right to choose to kill the infant.  Even if only four babies were killed every Sunday in church nurseries, would those in the pews say that it's not their calling or not their thing so they will not try to save them?  But if these same babies were younger and in a different location of the mother's womb, then the silence of most Christians would be very evident.

During the week of the tragic events of 9/11 most churches opened their doors to special prayer services, and many gathered at other events for national grieving and healing.  The horrible events of that day even spawned a war with the intent to thwart any future terrorists attacks.  How many died on that fateful day: 3,497.  As bad as that is, it is still less than die from abortion every day.  Why aren't the churches holding special services for the unborn?  Why isn't there a full-fledged domestic battle occurring against the killers of the unborn?  Of course, the answer is that the unborn are treated as less valuable than the born.

Millions of Americans label themselves as pro-life but how many really are treating the unborn with the same respect and value that a born person has?  I don't think I am giving the same value to the unborn.  I wonder if I would do much more to stop over a million infants from being killed a year, especially if I knew I could make a difference.  I hope that I would be doing extensively more than what I am doing now for the unborn.  Of course, there are some who are responding appropriately, but that number is minuscule compared to the amount of people who claim to be pro-life.

Many in America have bought the lie called "choice" and thus it's easy to just never think about the horror of abortion.  They have bought the lie that the unborn is somehow of lesser value than the born person.  This assumption that it somehow has lesser worth is only because it's in a different location, less developed than the born child, more dependent than most, and just smaller than a born infant.

The question that arises is:  If I give the unborn the same worth as a born infant, then what's the next step in fighting this battle?  OUTRAGE. What would the reaction be to hearing that 4,000 infants were killed every day by their mothers?  OUTRAGE. The rage that many would have about that is the same emotion that should be felt for the unborn.  The public collective conscious should be the same as the reaction of the events of 9/11. If this occurred, the masses would storm abortion clinics to stop the further killing.  Politicians would then go into overdrive to pass anti-abortion legislation.  The pro-abortion rhetoric that covers this horrible act would be removed, and once and for all, the unborn will be given the same respect and value that born children receive.
