The Number One Reason American Women Have Abortions

The Number One Reason American Women Have Abortions…
By Bud Shaver

I interact with numerous people each week as I reach out to abortion-minded women and couples. Tara and I have been able to help many women re-consider the choice in America that we call abortion and have connected them with Project Defending Life in Albuquerque, NM, for help and support. However, we are not able to reach every woman. Most of these women who are abortion minded can't stand that we oppose their right to abortion. They think we are raving lunatics for praying and reaching out at abortion clinics. They have convinced themselves that abortion is the right answer for their situation.

Everyone knows that when you are pregnant, you are pregnant with a baby. Most of the women that we are not able to reach know they are about to kill their child through abortion. That is the very reason they seek out an abortionist at an abortion clinic and pay hundreds, even thousands of dollars. They just don't want anyone to say that abortion is wrong in their situation. The only verse in the Bible that they seem to know is the paraphrased version of Matthew 7:1, "Don’t judge me!" They make sure that you hear them as they scream it at you, and of course they do not care about the context. From my experience those who demand tolerance for their cause are the most intolerant!

These women and couples hide behind rhetoric like “women’s rights" and "pro-choice." They will say "I am not pro-abortion; nobody is pro-abortion...I am pro-choice"; but which women's right are they defending...? The right for women to choose abortion. What choice do they support...? The choice called abortion.

What is abortion?

1) The intentional ending of a pregnancy by either taking a pill that starves the baby to death in the womb, a.k.a. RU-486, or

2) violently suctioning the baby out of the womb with an industrial strength vacuum, a.k.a. D and C or Dilation and Curettage, or

3) brutally dismembering the baby limb by limb until the baby finally dies at some point during the procedure, a.k.a. D and E or Dilation and Evacuation, or

4) by giving the baby a fatal heart attack in the womb by injecting their heart with a needle and pumping digoxin into it, a late-term method, a.k.a. the M.O.L.D procedure.

Then they will say it's not a baby, it's a fetus. But where does the word "fetus" come from and how is it defined? It is a Latin term that means, "young one" and specifically when applied to humans, it means young child.

These women have bought this deceptive rhetoric and have said it over and over again until they actually believe it. They defend the right of a woman to kill her child and have actually killed their own children. Echoing a quote attributed to Dresden James, "When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic." The truth is that abortion is the violent and brutal killing of an innocent person.

I am amazed at the radical difference between Chinese women and American women entering abortion clinics. Chinese women are dragged kicking and screaming; pleading for the life of their child and crying out for someone to do something to rescue them and their precious baby from the totalitarian control of their government. American women casually stroll into an abortion clinic to "terminate their unwanted pregnancy"; empowered by their government. They raise a middle finger in disgust to those faithful few who stand for life; those who are praying and pleading for the life of the precious child; those who dare make the judgment call that abortion is not the answer to their problems.
In 2004, according to The Guttmacher Institute (Planned Parenthood's research institute) "Reasons U.S. Women Have Abortions"...the number one reason American women choose abortion:

Having a baby would dramatically change my life. (1)

Little do they know abortion will dramatically change their life as well. Choose wisely and choose life!

I appreciate this article, but as a post abortive woman myself, there is one point worth mentioning. A large majority of women choose abortion because-
1. It's legal.
2. There was no one who reached out as an advocate for the mom and the child to give her "real choice"
3. Most abortions are coerced, by the father, rapist, predator or even by the very grandparents of the innocent in the womb.
In my case, I was told by the same clinic that had prescribed the birth control pill, that my baby would be deformed since I was taking the pill. My fiance was petrified of having a "deformed" child. After he dropped me off at the clinic, I had second thoughts and asked to use the phone for a ride. I ended up with an I.V. in my arm against my will. When I came to, it was over. In my case, I was forced by the very facility that supposedly offers women "choice."

Thank you for sharing your testimony. My ministry of reaching out at local abortion clinics in my community is specifically for women like you. I'm sorry there was no one there for you. My ministry is also focused on reaching out to churches and church leaders to educate and equip people to realize the urgency and importance of having a continuous presence at the abortion clinics in our communities. We need to be there not only for the children, but also for the women before and after their abortions to share the grace, love, and forgiveness only Jesus can provide.

I recently helped out with Justice For All and came across this statistic that women gave Planned Parenthood in 2004 for the number one reason they were having an abortion. It resonated with my experience reaching out to abortion minded women. I generally am out 5 days a week and here in ABQ, we are able to reach 2 or 3 women each month in similar situations like yours and that is my we are there. However, hundreds of other women are more like the ones I captured in my post. My post was trying to capture the essence of the "Pro-choice" or more specifically "Pro-abortion women I interact with and the "Women's Rights Movement" that sells the rhetoric these women have bought.

Many blessings,
