Illegal Aliens Are Here Illegally.According to Rasmussen polling 68% of Americans agree with the core Tea Party beliefs of smaller government. If the Tea Party would insert the pro-life view in their platform it would greatly diminish the amount of people agreeing with them. The latest Gallup Poll shows that 78% of Americans think abortion should be legal all the time or legal under certain circumstances. Only 19% believe that abortion should always be illegal. Obviously, if abortion was included in the list of Tea Party core beliefs the movement would be in deep trouble. Also, the mainstream media would have true ammunition to attack the Tea Party movement. Now they usually just make up attacks against Tea Partiers, such as calling them racist or stupid. If abortion was included they could justifiably note that 78% of Americans believe in something that the Tea Party is fighting against. In a CBS Poll 41% of Tea Party members claimed they were independent while 5% claimed to be Democrats. If abortion was included in the Tea Party platform it is guaranteed that many of these independents and Democrats would jump ship.

It is very interesting that since most of the candidates that the Tea Party backed are very conservative it also means they are pro-life. Christine O'Donnell in Delaware, Joe Miller in Alaska, and Mark Rubio in Florida are very open about their pro-life beliefs. That's just the result that pro-lifers should be excited about. Of course, all politics excluded, I would love for them to express their disdain for the thousands of unborn babies killed every day in this country. I wish they would show aborted baby photos and also promote support groups for women such as Rachel's Vineyard. But if they did all of that and the Tea Party focused on the abortion issue it would be 100% political suicide. The Tea Party is very smart to ignore the pro-life issue but they eventually get the result of getting pro-life candidates elected anyway. Of course, if elected, it's unknown how successful they will be in getting pro-life legislation passed with Obama still as president and many Democrats still in Congress. But it should still beat the alternative that we've had in the last couple of years.
For those who have complained about the Tea Party ignoring abortion, start your own pro-life Tea Party or whatever it should be called. On the surface it appears that those complaining just want to ride the coattails of some other movement. Actually, I think the whole pro-life movement has been essentially attempting a Tea Party type of uprising for years, but obviously there isn't a clamoring for a vast change on the abortion view. The Tea Party was a by-product of such an outcry for change in the direction our country has been heading fiscally. Unfortunately, there isn't any widespread outcry for change on the abortion issue.

Good article. Well written. I support the Tea Party movement, and I am glad that this article recognizes that good consevative candidates have been elected because of the Tea Party that would not have otherwise have been put there. I think we should all support the Tea Party for the great conservative ideas that come with it. A bonus is the fact that they are also pro-life and that is what we want ultimately anyways.
