Tim Tebow Ad - Are Pro-Lifers Looking Like Hypocrites?

After listening to both sides of the Tim Tebow ad discussion, I've come to the conclusion that, of course, many on the "pro-choice" side aren't pro-choice at all, but pro-abortion.  They really can't claim they are pro-choice anymore.

But what about the pro-life angle concerning this ad?

Every pro-lifer and pro-life group is cheering that this ad will run, including yours truly.  But something isn't right about this ad.  Of course, I haven't seen it, but the main thrust I assume is that since Pam Tebow didn't have an abortion, then one must look at the result.  That result is Tim Tebow, one of the greatest college football players of all time.  So don't get an abortion because the product of pregnancy could be a star.  Pro-lifers have always said that all life is valuable because of the inherent value of a human.  Every person is valuable not because of what they might accomplish but because of their nature of being conceived as a human.  Every unborn baby is worthy even though they may have some disability that precludes them from ever playing any sport.

What about the pro-abortion argument that one doesn't know if that unborn entity is going to be a great football player or a mass murderer?  They do have a point because one doesn't know, and this ad seems to fall right into the trap they have set.  Well, since the pro-lifers are basing the argument not to have an abortion on the idea that the unborn might be great someday, then the pro-aborts say that they want to support abortion based on the idea that the unborn might be a horrible person someday.  Then both sides are at a standstill.

Of course, right now it's unclear how the majority of Americans who rarely think about this issue will react to the ad.  My feeling is that the general public will view the pro-life message of it in a very positive light, but upon further reflection on their part, the pro-life argument promoted by this ad could backfire.

P.S. - Just saw the ad which is as subtle as it gets.  In fact, if the pro-abortion crowd wouldn't have made such a huge deal about it, few would know that Pam Tebow was advised to abort Tim.  Great job by Focus on the Family to expose the pro-choice groups as really pro-abortion while developing an ad that CBS would allow to air.
